Jay-Z would lose a million dollars each week because of Spotify
Does
Jay-Z lose colossal money by refusing to see his new album join the Spotify
service?
And if Snoop Dogg has found a way around
this limit, the fact remains that subscribers to Spotify are enraged at not
being able to take advantage of Jay-Z's discography. The Blueprint, The Black
Album, Kingdom Come, American Gangster, The Blueprint 3, Magna Carta, and Holly
Carta are now available from April. Grail "on the service, at the request
of the rapper. "4:44" was no exception to the rule, and none of the
pieces of the project yet found its way to Spotify.
A radical policy, therefore, which would
obviously lose money to Jay-Z, as reported by Billboard. According to the
publication, which went from its small investigation, to refuse
"4:44" to Spotify would lose every week a million dollars (850,000
euros approximately) to Shawn Carter.
According to celebrity news magazines, this figure was
calculated by taking into account the average amount paid by Spotify to an
artist whenever one of his titles is listened to and the expectation generated
by an album of that kind. And it does not matter if the rapper is sitting on a
treasure of war valued at more than a billion euros (if one accumulates his
fortune to that of his wife), in fact, the dry loss is brutal.
An error of judgment? Not sure!
Anyway, it would be underestimating Jay-Z
to believe that man made a mistake. Still, he managed to win an investment of $
200 million with the US operator Sprint, in exchange for which the latter was
able to offer "4:44" to its subscribers. One in the other.
